Interested in volunteering for Friends of the Cheney Library? We’d love to have you!
We hold used book sales throughout the year and this is where we need the most help. Especially from individuals who are physically fit and able to carry boxes of books up a long staircase. However, we also have non-physical volunteer opportunities. If you are digitally savvy we could use your help in marketing on social media platforms. Or perhaps you have artistic abilities and would like to create digital images* for our website, newsletters, and posters. Are you into antique books? We have a collection of speciality books and comics where we could greatly use the help in evaluating the worth of these items.
Book Sale Volunteering Details:
Set up includes setting up large folding tables, hand carrying boxes of books (max. weight per box is 20 lbs) up a flight of stairs, and organizing the boxes on the sale tables. Set up starts at 3 pm and lasts about 1-2 hours depending on the number of volunteers.
Tear down involves transferring unsold items into boxes. The packed boxes will then be carried out to vehicles. Folding tables will need to be folded and stored away in the closet. Any remaining empty cardboard boxes and supplies to be carried down to the basement. This happens immediately after the sale ends at 3 pm and lasts about 1-2 hours.
